Picking a contractor is a bet on people you’ve mostly just met. Here’s how to lower the odds of getting it wrong — whether or not you end up hiring us.
Ask to see finished work you can visit
Renderings and portfolios are easy to curate. A building you can drive to and walk through is not. Ask for projects like yours, in your market, that you can actually see.
Ask who your single point of contact is
If the answer is vague, that’s the answer. On a healthy project, one person owns the relationship from first estimate to final walk-through. Get their name.
Pressure-test the budget
- When do they price the work — before design, or after you’re attached to it?
- What’s their change-order history on projects like yours?
- Will the number you’re quoted survive contact with the field?
Trust the boring signals
The firm that returns calls, shows up on time to the walk, and tells you something you didn’t want to hear is usually the one that will manage your risk. Charisma builds nothing. Follow-through does.
