Every project is different, so every proposal should be. This role writes them: you’ll dig into the client, the project, and the procurement requirements, pull the story out of the people who build the work, and put together a package that says something true and specific about how we’d run it. You’ll also own our LinkedIn presence — the projects, the people, and the work worth showing.
You sit with the preconstruction team, working directly with the president, the executive assistant to the president, the senior estimator, and the preconstruction project manager.
This is a full-time remote position, with online meetings for project interviews, company meetings, marketing events, and photography.
What you’ll do
- Develop customized proposals for design-build, construction management, and development management pursuits.
- Interview leadership, preconstruction, project managers, and estimators to get the real project detail.
- Write clear, persuasive narratives tailored to each client — not template fill-in.
- Research prospective clients, project backgrounds, and procurement requirements.
- Sit in on pursuit planning to shape the strategy and find what the client actually cares about.
- Run proposal schedules and hit every deadline.
- Assist with presentations, interview materials, and qualifications packages.
- Manage the DempseyGill LinkedIn page: projects, milestones, people, community involvement, completed work, awards, and recruiting.
- Watch what lands and say what we should do more of.
- Create graphics and coordinate photography when a story needs it.
- Build and run the marketing library — project profiles and photography, resumes, qualifications, certifications, awards, references, and project statistics, organized so the next proposal starts from something.
- Keep project descriptions, case studies, and narratives current, accurate, and consistent with our brand.
What you bring
- Experience writing proposals, qualifications packages, or business development materials.
- Construction industry experience strongly preferred; a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, or Construction Management preferred.
- Experience running a professional social media account, LinkedIn especially.
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing — and the judgment to handle confidential information.
- The ability to turn technical construction detail into something a client actually understands.
- An understanding of how design-build, construction management, and preconstruction services actually differ.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Bluebeam Revu, Canva, Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, or CRM and proposal management software is a plus.
